A Decade O' Go-Go
Here at Tatty Devine we're not the only ones celebrating ten happy years. Last night we went to the 100 Club on Oxford Street (currently facing a possible tragic closure due to a sharp rise in rent) to see the all-girl '60's dance troupe, The Actionettes, celebrate their tenth birthday. Over the last decade we've always loved what they do, so it didn't take long to decide what to give them for their birthday - glittery name necklaces, as they've all got such GREAT names: Balconette, Cassette, Castinette, Kitschenette, Launderette, Luncheonette, Marmosette, Roulette, Scarlette, Silhouette and Velvelette to name a few. It wasn't just dancing, Betty and the Werewolves played a set. Helen on guitar and casio keys was wearing the Pegasus Wing Earrings which looked as fetching as ever. Their energy is amazing, especially on 'Euston Station', and they have just released a long awaited album 'Tea Time Favourites' which we will definitely be playing in the shop. Throughout the night the Actionettes had more costume changes than we could count, such an array of brightly coloured '60's shift dresses, and such admirable hair, you can get in touch with Silhouette for a guide to the perfect bouffant. The dance routines were to favourite stomping numbers such as Gloria Jones' 'Tainted Love' and the Supremes' 'Heatwave', the music was great and Lady Kamikaze was amazing spinning the 'platters that matter'. So much fun. Happy Birthday Actionettes! xxx
