Craftivist Collective at Tatty Devine
We had a lovely time last night with the Craftivist Collective! The Craftivists combine craft and activism to try to make a difference in the world. So we got together for a workshop in our Covent Garden boutique, to make alternative Valentines letters and keyrings from a Tatty Devine design created especially for the project. The letters will be hidden in public on 14th February for people to find. Each letter contains a keyring, and encourages the reader to show some love to people around the world affected by climate change. It's easy to get involved - our fave comedian, Josie Long, features in the video for the project, which shows you what to do. And read our previous blog to find out more. Here's what we got up to at the workshop to make ours... you'll also get a behind-the-scenes look at our boutique's downstairs space! Step One. Tracing the Tatty Devine template onto shrink plastic:
Step Two. Colouring in the design:
Step Three. Cutting it out:
Step Four. Punching a hole in the shrink plastic, where the keyring will be attached: Step Five. The tricky bit! Using a heat gun to shrink the plastic down: Step Five. Add a keychain - and show off your design: Step Six. Add an alternative Valentines letters, and seal it in an envelope with the keyring:Step Seven. Wait until 14th February to hide the letters in public...
Big thanks to Sarah of the Craftivist Collective for getting us involved!
