Get the look! Glitter Lips
We’re glitter aficionados at Team Tatty, so inspired by our sparkling Lipstick Kiss collection, we called upon makeup extraordinaire Lucy to show you how to create glitter lips - perfect for the party season!
Hey Lucy! Tell us a little about yourself… Hello! I have been a Makeup Artist for about 9 years now, I love everything about my job! From my Instagram you can see that I am involved with various different elements of makeup, ranging from the red carpet and fashion to bridal photo shoots and of course weddings – making-up real brides! I became a mum in the last year, which has been amazing but also exhausting - running a business with a newborn was really hard work but now things are starting to calm down. Sleeping is now back on the menu and I’m feeling more human, so I thought now would be the right time to get my teaching qualification! I have already been running a few makeup workshops, but now it means students can get a diploma at the Lucy Jayne Makeup Academy! I’m so excited!
Main inspiration behind the glitter lips look? I was recently part of collaborative photoshoot and the styling was very colourful with a 90’s vibe and I had free reign with the makeup. One of my favourite looks was where I layered iridescent flakes over bright pink lipstick using lip balm to make the flakes stick. It looked so cool and was something that I wanted to try to make more wearable for Christmas party season, especially as I have the Tatty Devine Lipstick Necklace to wear. It’s gold with red glitter so I need to find something to match!
What tools did you use? I found a brilliant product called Glitter Lips by Beauty Boulevard. You apply your favourite matt lipstick and using the special glue and applicator you press the glitter on top.
Step by step how to guide: 1. Making sure my lips are dry and clean, I used MAC Pro Longwear lip pencil in ‘Kiss Me Quick’ as a base colour. 2.While keeping my lips parted I coated my top lip with the Glitter Lips glue. 3. Making sure the glue is still tacky press the glitter onto the lip using the applicator, keep going until the top lip is coated in glitter. 4. Repeat the process on the bottom lip. 5. With such a bold lip look I like to keep the rest of my makeup quite neutral. I keep my skin quite glossy with plenty of highlighting and subtle contour to make my cheekbones pop and lastly, I think kitten flick eyeliner with loads of mascara compliments the red sparkly lips perfectly.
