How to make a garland with The Printed Peanut

Searching for sustainable ways to decorate your house this Christmas or simply want to refresh your tree decorations on a budget? Head straight to your kitchen and put those tomato puree tubes to good use with a DIY festive garland ‘how-to’ from artist, and our collaborator, Louise Lockhart aka The Printed Peanut.

Materials:

  • Tomato puree tube (you can also use metal skincare tubes!)
  • Spoon
  • Pen or pencil
  • Scissors
  • Magazine or newspaper to lean on
  • Ribbon, string or wire

How to:

  • Cut the end off your tubes then cut down the middle
  • Rinse under the tap to clean any leftover product
  • Smooth out your golden sheet with the back of a spoon
  • Using a pen or pencil, emboss your designs onto your metal sheet
  • When you're happy with your design, cut it out with scissors
  • Make a hole so you can hang your design
  • Loop onto ribbon, string or wire to complete your decoration!
