How to make a garland with The Printed Peanut
Searching for sustainable ways to decorate your house this Christmas or simply want to refresh your tree decorations on a budget? Head straight to your kitchen and put those tomato puree tubes to good use with a DIY festive garland ‘how-to’ from artist, and our collaborator, Louise Lockhart aka The Printed Peanut.
Materials:
- Tomato puree tube (you can also use metal skincare tubes!)
- Spoon
- Pen or pencil
- Scissors
- Magazine or newspaper to lean on
- Ribbon, string or wire
How to:
- Cut the end off your tubes then cut down the middle
- Rinse under the tap to clean any leftover product
- Smooth out your golden sheet with the back of a spoon
- Using a pen or pencil, emboss your designs onto your metal sheet
- When you're happy with your design, cut it out with scissors
- Make a hole so you can hang your design
- Loop onto ribbon, string or wire to complete your decoration!
