How to: make a Pickleback Cocktail

It’s World Cocktail Day! And we’re back with Store Supervisor Elysia for a fun and fresh take on classic bar snacks… Swapping a sweet spritz for a tangy take on a classic whiskey sour, Team Tatty’s resident mixologist is whipping up a Pickleback Cocktail inspired by a savoury shot. Not yet au fait with our new favourite tipple? Allow us to fill you in: a pickleback is a shot of bourbon or whiskey, followed by a shot of brine. So tell us, Elysia - what’s the big dill?

Look no further! Here’s my alternative easy cocktail recipe, just pop on our best-selling playful gherkin jewellery, and let’s get making…

🧊 You’ll need:

  • 50 ml pickle juice - we like Opies Cocktail Gherkins for this!
  • 50 ml whiskey or bourbon
  • 50 ml simple sugar syrup - Miriam Nice’s failsafe guide is your friend, here!
  • Fresh lime juice
  • Ice

🌿 For garnish:

  • Sprig of fresh dill
  • Mini gherkins

🍹Method:

  • Cool your cocktail shaker with ice
  • Add your pickle juice
  • Pour in whiskey and simple syrup
  • Squeeze in the juice of half a lime
  • Shake your mix up
  • Pour over ice
  • Add a dill and gherkin garnish
  • Enjoy

Perfect for pickle lovers, we recommend drinking this controversial cocktail in style: just add our In A Pickle Necklace and matching gherkin earrings.
