Women We Watch: Lily from Truffle Pig
So we’ve just launched our super egg-citing #TattyDevineEasterEggHunt where you can win our best selling Triple Swallow Necklace AND some delicious vegan treats from the terrific Truffle Pig! We’ve had a little chat with their founder, Lily, to find out a bit more about her and her love for chocolate.

Hey Lily, if you could describe Truffle Pig in five words what would they be?
Vegan. Chocolate. DIY. Ethical. Handmade.

You started Truffle Pig back in 2016, what inspired you to start your business?
I’ve always made Christmas presents, maybe because I’m cheap or maybe because it just feels lovely to make something for someone. Ian and I had already been vegan for a few years at this point and I thought truffles sounded easy.. Oh, how wrong I was! The quest for delicious truffles was on, after a few months I was flogging boxes to friends and doing markets. 6 months later, I quit my job and was making truffles full time.

What has been the best moment in your Truffle Pig journey so far?
Definitely the moment my partner, Ian, was able to leave his rat race job of 18 years to come and build the business with me. Doing this together is the most fun I’ve ever had. Everyday is a stressful adventure and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

What’s your favourite chocolate bar you’ve created?
I’ve always loved the weird flavour combos and hand painting bars, it’s just more fun! We did a run of ‘Riots Not Diets’ hand painted on bars last year, we’ve got plans to bring those back this summer!

We know your Nanna Doris was a big inspiration for you! What would she pick as her favourite?
My Nanna absolutely loved chocolate with all her heart, even towards the end of her life the one thing she would still enjoy is a big slab of choc! A classic milk bar would be just perfect.

Now all your treats are vegan, got any tips for people looking to make the change to plant based?
We have always been a vegan business but in the past few years it has become so much easier to make small switches! My top tips are to do it gradually, don’t overwhelm yourself with too much change, be kind to yourself and enjoy the process.

Who are you inspired by? Is there anyone we should check out on Instagram.
Anyone that is creating because they love it and encourages people to be their authentic self. I always love seeing posts from my fellow womxn business owners and of course my roller derby family.
