Meet the Team | Jenni, Operations Manager
Always wanted to know what it’s like to be part of Team Tatty? Well now’s your chance!
In today’s Meet the Team, we talk to Jenni, Operations Manager in our Kent workshop...
Talk us through your typical day at Tatty Devine? I oversee both the Production and Fulfilment teams in our Kent workshop. I start my day assisting the dispatch team with web orders to make sure our customers get their new jewellery on time. Then I check in with our jewellery making team to make sure everything is running smoothly. I spend the rest of the day planning future production and wholesale orders, along with keeping our stores stocked up with the current collections.
Best thing about your job? My job covers a lot of areas within the business - one minute I am assisting Production with a new collection and then next I’m on the phone helping out a customer with their order. I enjoy the fast pace of my role and love to be kept on my toes!
How would you describe your style? Fun, as my clothes always make people smile. I love to wear bright prints, I think this comes from studying Textile design at University. Lazy Oaf is my favourite brand, other than Tatty Devine of course! I love their humorous graphic illustrations.
Earliest Tatty Devine memory? In 2011 I travelled down to London for a university trip and my friend took me to the Brick Lane store. I was like a magpie and I didn’t know what to look at first! Ever since I have been a fan so was over the moon when I became part of the team.
How did you get your job at Tatty? I really REALLY wanted to work for the brand, so I travelled down from Scotland to carry out a work placement making jewellery back in 2013. I stayed on as a jewellery maker and also helped within the Fulfilment Team dispatching orders. It was amazing last year when I was promoted to Operations Manager, when I first started I never expected this to happen!
Where do you find inspiration? Instagram! I love creating my own graphic artwork, so Instagram is perfect as it's quick and easy to find and store inspirational images. The walls of my flat are filled with colourful prints to brighten up the plain walls. I also use Pinterest to find useful ‘how to guides’. If I can do it myself I will give it a go. I made all my own lampshades and I am making two embroidered cushions at the moment.
Tell us something we don’t already know about you... I’m a huge fan of taxidermy! If I could fill my house I would, but I don’t think my boyfriend would appreciate it.... My favourite piece I own is ‘Sheryl’ the crow.
Away from work, what are your hobbies and interests? I love to bake, any excuse to bake I will! I recently got a Kitchen Aid so have been busy trying out some new recipes. I often make cakes for Team Tatty, with two of my favourites being Willy Wonka and Minions themed!
Which album do you currently have on repeat? Over the past few weeks I’ve been listening to Elle King’s ‘Love Stuff’, she has a fantastic blues voice.
Favourite designs from the Skies of Antiquity collection? My absolute favourite is the Goddess Column Necklace. I also have my eyes on the Creation of Adam Necklace and the Grape Vine Statement Necklace - I’ve always been a fan of a statement piece.
