OUR TOP MUSIC MOMENTS

August 13, 2018 - Charlotte Prichard
OUR TOP MUSIC MOMENTS

Music has always been a key theme for us at Tatty Devine - often whole collections are influenced by the music we're listening to and over the years we've jumped at the chance to collaborate with some of our favourite artists.

Whether you like to turn it up with our Volume Brooch, pluck a tune with the Plectrum Necklace or add a pop of colour with our Velvet Underground inspired Banana Necklace, we've got jewellery for every music lover.

To celebrate Record Store Day this Saturday, we're taking a look back at some of our top music moments...

Record Store Day 2015

First up we'll start with one of our most recent - late last year we headed to the Margate with the very cool Skinny Girl Diet to shoot our playful SS15 Contemporary collection, inspired by British days out, fairgrounds, fruit, the weather and everything in between. We're big fans of this riot grrrl band, we're predicting lots to come from them!

Our very first music collaboration was with Chicks on Speed, who Rosie and Harriet first met over 15 years ago, back when they used to go to their gigs (some of which involved Harriet and Rosie knitting whilst dancing on stage!). They designed mini Chicks on Speed Vinyl Earrings and a few years later we held a Chicks on Speed book launch in store.

For our SS12 shoot we teamed up with our friend John William to create a Mexican and Day of the Dead inspired vision, with the fab FKA Twigs modelling our ever popular Sugar Skull Ring. Last year we were obsessed with her album, LP1, and can't wait to see what she's got planned next.

In 2010 a dream came true for us when Belle and Sebastian popped into our Brick Lane store and asked if we'd like to design a special piece of merchandise for them! Rosie and Harriet have always wanted to work with the duo, so taking inspiration from Belle & Sebastian's song 'Dog on Wheels', they designed a special brooch, followed by our Dog on Wheels Necklace.

We teamed up with über cool Peaches in 2009 to create a small range of merchandise, launching the pieces at a party in our Brick Lane store. Peaches also modelled for our 'Best Of' range (now known as Classic) in 2010, where rather then using models, Harriet and Rosie got all of their friends involved to create a fun look book to show off the collections.

For her Kiss Me Once tour, Kylie snapped up our Giant Lobster Necklace, aka Bruce, to become her official mascot! Bruce the Lobster even has his own Instagram account where you can find pictures of him on stage, getting dressed up, taking spa days and nursing hangovers.

And last but not least, until the 3rd May at Somerset House, you can discover 700 record sleeves at the Secret 7 exhibition designed by a bunch of creatives and artists - including one designed by Harriet and Rosie! The twist? You won't know which sleeve we designed until you purchase one of the 700 on the 4th May. We wonder who will pick ours up...
