Sound It Out
We're really pleased to be supporting the brilliant filmmaker Jeanie Finlay, who is about to jet off to the South By Southwest festival for the world premiere of her new film. The film is called Sound It Out, and it's about the last surviving vinyl record shop in Teesside, which is thriving against the odds. Jeanie grew up three miles from the shop, so it's dear to her heart. Sound It Out is going to be the official film of Record Store Day 2011, happening in April. We love to support independent record shops and a lot of the Tatty Devine team still buy and listen to music on vinyl. Over the last five years an independent record shop has closed in the UK every three days, so we hope Sound It Out will help keep the shops alive! When Jeanie asked for our help, we immediately thought - record jewellery! Jeanie's illustrator Amy Blackwell, who created the poster above, did some custom designs for us to make into Record Necklaces and Earrings: We posted the jewellery to Jeanie, who works in a studio with three girls and a boy. She says: "Sally, Amy and I were squealing and whooping in the studio much to the shaking head of Mark. He just doesn't get it!! We absolutely love them." Jeanie posted pics on Facebook as soon as she got the parcel: Jeanie will be using the jewellery to promote Sound It Out at South By Southwest, and after that to promote the film and raise money. So keep your eyes peeled and you might have the chance to get your hands on one of the pieces!
