Hidden away underground in the British Museum is the new Samsung Digital Discovery Centre which, a couple of Saturdays ago, became Tatty Devine’s latest studio. Our designer Harriet was invited by the lovely team at the Museum to do two lasercutting workshops for 13-18 year olds.  The theme of the day was Egyptian, which is also the inspiration for our current collection. I've just joined the Tatty Devine team (my name's Lucy) so I came along to report for you. To get the day started, Harriet gave a talk about how she and Rosie began Tatty Devine and what it was like to be a designer.  She even gave her lucky listeners a sneaky peek at her sketchbook – including a glimpse of next season’s collection! There were loads of inspiring images, and Harriet walked like an Egyptian... Harriet Vine walks like an Egyptian The creative juices were soon flowing and everyone got to grips with getting their designs on screen: Harriet Vine of Tatty Devine at the British Museum Once the designs had been cut by the lasercutter we got down to the serious task of making jewellery.  With Harriet to provide an extra pair of hands (or pliers), magic happened and this: Tatty Devine at the British Museum Soon became this: Tatty Devine workshop at the British Museum During the first session, the fabulous Giulia made this necklace inspired by the architecture at the British Museum.  I think that gold perspex is an even better look than the original stone!
