Tatty Devine celebrates at the Year of the Bus Cavalcade

All aboard! The sun was shining and excitement filled the air as we joined in the Year of the Bus Cavalcade on Regent Street yesterday. Celebrating 60 years since the creation of the iconic Routemaster, 75 years since the launch of the RT-Type bus and 100 years since the B-Type 'Battle Bus', Regent Street was closed to traffic and almost fifty classic London buses were on display for the public to explore... including our very own Tatty Devine bus! We couldn't believe our luck when the London Transport Museum lent us our very own vintage AEC Merlin bus especially for the big day. A glossy red single decker from 1969, it was perfect for hosting Bunting Necklace Workshops and a pop up shop full of Tatty Devine jewellery. We even had our own destination blinds on board - the 15 stands for our fifteenth birthday later this year! Here's Rosie and Harriet striking a pose together... ... and with some super cool customers, too!  Looking good, ladies! We couldn't wait to hop on board and take a look at all the beautiful original features. Whilst festooning our bus with red, cream and black bunting, we spotted this amazing vintage advertisement: Of course, there couldn't be anywhere better to showcase our London Transport Museum jewellery than on board a London Bus. Bus enthusiasts, families and Tatty Devine fans were able to take their pick from the new collection at our pop up shop: Our bus was big news with nearly 1000 people hopping on board to say hello over the course of the day! We were very excited to have Kent studio super stars Jenni and Megan joining us to spread the word and show off their favourite pieces from the new collection. Store star and workshop expert Charlotte hosted Bunting Necklace Workshops and shared her jewellery making skills with our eager workshoppers. Getting to grips with pliers takes lots of concentration but everyone soon became dab hands at piecing their Bunting Necklaces together. Every single Bunting Necklace colour way was different! This sunny combination reminds us of days on the beach at Margate. Tada! Karen of Did You Make That?, Katie of What Katie Does and Kate of Fabric of My Life show off their beautiful Bunting Necklaces. We couldn't resist exploring our way along Regent Street and taking a good look at all the buses. We fell in love with this very special Routemaster! From 1960-72, London Transport staff learnt to drive on this big green beauty. Would you like to see this on the streets of London again? What could be cooler than a Lego bus stop? A collaboration between Transport for London, Lego, and Trueform, this playful installation consists of 100,000 bricks and took a fortnight to build. We asked visitors to snap themselves with our bus and upload it to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #TDBus for the chance to win a London Bus Necklace.
