We had a little party
After our big book launch at Drink Shop & Do, we wanted to have a little party to say thank you to everyone who helped to create and inspire our book. So we got together in our Brick Lane store. Pink hair was a bit of a theme... Harriet wore hers with the Link Mega Necklace and a diagonals dress: And Rosie wore a YSL dress from her favourite vintage shop in Paris: Here's our A team of designers, writers and stylists who helped create the book. From left to right, meet Nina, Eithne and John. Nina showed us her nifty technique for shortening the chain on a necklace - she just ties in a couple of knots. It's clever and it looks cute and kooky: The lovely people at Friels gave us some delicious cider. And we were treated to a performance from performance artist Silvia Ziranek. We've made lots of jewellery for Silvia's shows over the years (did you see our toilet lid earrings?) so it was lovely to have our very own instore performance from her. Silvia took the message of our book, that you can make jewellery from literally anything, and created outsized bangles from cake boards, toys and found objects. Around the bangles, she spun a clever monologue about jewellery and adornment. Thank you Silvia! Harriet and Rosie modelled the bangles... ...and other friends modelled Tatty Devine. Mark Pawson even wore a badge that came free with one of our very first catalogues. He also wore a Tape Measure Belt from an early Tatty Devine collection (and kindly allowed us to get close enough to photograph it in action!) Nobody could beat Mark's vintage Tatty collection, but there were lots of other lovely pieces on display. How great is Jess's hair? Rob Ryan proves that the large gold Pegasus Necklace is a good look on guys. Look closely and you'll see that this lady is in fact wearing TWO different wooden Oak Leaves necklaces together. Now that's autumnal. Thank you to Friels, Silvia, everyone who helped with the book, and everyone who came along - and you can see Silvia in action at Tate Britain on 22nd October.
